here's some assorted bullshit about shapes and design and composition

none of this will be in any particular order i might split them off into seperate pages if i end up adding enough bullshit

first, here's a bit about the counselling session with yoshizawa. there is so much here and it's all so great. but the bit i wanna talk about right now is the framing and composition.

at the start of the session, sumire is nervous. everything is very closed off, she's small, maruki is taking up most of the space. once sumire gets talking about her interests and feels a little more comfortable, the camera shifts to show this off. but eventually, they get onto the topic of kasumi, and the camera shifts again. she goes back to not taking up much space, as she talks about how she wishes she were kasumi, and maruki offers his SUPER GOOD AND COOL solution. the camera shifts over to show a change between sumire and kasumi when she takes off the glasses, but the thing about where the camera ends up, is ...it's like, exactly the same shot as the first one. sumi is in exactly the same place mentally as she was when she came in. nothing changes except that she thinks she's better now. sumi's agency is completely crushed and the space is still being oppressed by maruki. so that's cool
